Animated music video commissioned by artist Paul Abro for the release of his new album.

All elements were drawn and scanned, "inked" in Illustrator and coloured in Photoshop. The animation was done in After Effects, and timed using an animatic made in Flash!

Adrian,

Looking at the equipment you've used I'm guessing this animation has been done by drawing each frame? Or does After Effects have some tools to convert objects into some form of animation?

Either ways, I can't imagine what it takes to do this kind of thing. Looks like a hell of a lot of work!

This is a really good job!

Just awesome. Some of the best AE animation I've seen.

Wow!
I love the whole thing! From a new father's standpoint, It's something I would love to show my son. From a technical standpoint, you nailed the art in Illustrator and all the subtle details of shading, etc. And you really nailed the physics of the motion of the character. It's VERY difficult to do that!

Good Emotion
I very much liked this video Adrian. The thing I always look for in a video is what type of emotion does it bring out of me and is this what the artist intended. The music fit perfect with the animation. I felt a sense of wonderment and a dreamy sensation of youth. Great job, please keep up the good work and post more animation.

A joy to watch!
Thank you for sharing this. It was indeed a joy to watch. I loved being drawn into the story but also loved the subtle details like the fire highlights on the tree stump just before the boys comes back down.
Thank you!

Thanks very much for the comments! Shiv - yeah, even though everything needs to be drawn and painted outside After Effects, if all the animated elements are split up and kept on separate layers they can be moved/rotated/scaled etc. over time without redrawing every frame... Much like cut-out animation in Flash, but with a lot more control!
